NEWS RELEASE TOWNSHIP OF CENTRE WELLINGTON
CENTRE WELLINGTON – From September 22 to October 15, Centre Wellington along with the entire country will celebrate arts and culture through a variety of Culture Days festivities. Local culture contributes heavily to our vibrant community, and we are thrilled to once again be a part of the national celebrations.
The Township is proud to be recognized as 1 of 14 Ontario Culture Days Regional Hubs for 2023 and has over 90 events registered throughout the community. “We sent out a call to event organizers, community members, and businesses to submit their ideas in early February.”, said Paula Sealey, Community Development Coordinator. “In working with the Elora Fergus Arts Council, we’ve been able to breathe life into those ideas and provide micro-grants to really do something special for this year’s festivities and I’m excited to see everyone come together to celebrate arts and culture.”
Free (or pay-what-you-may) events and activities will take place across the community this year and highlight many local cultural groups, individuals, spaces and activities. Centre Wellington’s Regional Hub Day will take place on Saturday, October 7, featuring events like:
- Tribal Vision Dance – “Visions of Turtle Island” (Sensational Pumpkin Day)
- Puppets Elora – Octavia the Parade Octopus
- Apple A Day – Oh My! (Kitchen in the Park Project)
- African Drumming Circle (Sensational Pumpkin Day)
- Sensational Pumpkin Day (Sensational Elora)
- Wonders of Encaustic & Mixed Media (2nd Floor Studio)
- Fun with Collage (Schoolhouse Arts Collective)
- Elora Farmers Market
- And many more!
We are thrilled to celebrate Culture Days for three glorious weeks of colour, creativity, and community!
