SIXTY-YEAR-OLD SUNRIDGE ONTARIO MAN CHARGED WITH IMPAIRED DRIVING

TOWNSHIP OF WELLINGTON NORTH - On Monday, Sept. 3, 2018 at approximately 6:30 p.m. a Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police officer was monitoring traffic on Wellington Road 16, Damascus. The officer stopped the driver of a red all-terrain vehicle (ATV) for not wearing a helmet.

While speaking with the driver, officers formed the opinion that he was impaired by alcohol. He was arrested and brought to a local OPP Operations Centre for further testing.

A Sixty-year-old of Sunridge, Ont., has been charged with impaired driving, driving with over 80 mgs of alcohol in 100mL of blood and drive off-road vehicle without plate, without insurance and without a proper helmet. A 90-day administrative driver's licence suspension (A.D.L.S.) and seven-day vehicle impoundment was initiated as per statute. He is scheduled to appear in Guelph Criminal Court on Sept. 28, 2018.  

If you suspect someone is driving while their ability to operate a motor vehicle is impaired, either by drug or alcohol, call police at 911 to report it.
