On May 6, 2019 at 10:03 p.m., Guelph Police conducted a traffic stop with a motor vehicle on Marlborough Road at Speedvale Avenue. The male driver verbally identified himself to police and while police checked on the information, the man exited the vehicle and fled on foot leaving two passengers behind. Investigation discovered the identity of the man who had provided a false name to police.
On May 7, 2019 at 4:48 a.m., the man was located and arrested.
The 27-year-old Guelph man has been charged with obstruct police, breach probation and three counts of drive while prohibited under the Criminal Code. He was also charged under the Highway Traffic Act with drive motor vehicle no valid permit and drive under suspension. He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.
