A Fergus resident is facing numerous charges after police say an election sign was damaged.
Wellington County OPP say on May 9, around 2:30 a.m., officers spotted a person causing a disturbance and damaging a sign on Tower Street South.
According to police, when officers tried to arrest the suspect, one of the officers was assaulted.
35-year-old Steven St Amour has been charged with Removal/Damage of Posted Election Documents, Causing a Disturbance, Assault with Intent to Resist Arrest, Theft Under $5,000, and Mischief – Destroys or Damages Property (two counts).
