CENTRE WELLINGTON – Following approval of a pilot project, Centre Wellington staff will be selecting a neighbourhood to test out a 40 kilometre per hour zone, down from 50.
Reducing speeding on local roadways is a priority for the township, according to Adam Gilmore, manager of engineering.
Gilmore says the devices needed and cost of the project have already been taken into consideration.
Gilmore also says the project will be a partnership between staff and local police.
He adds police will be involved from the get-go of selecting a neighbourhood through implementation of the project.
This pilot will require a bylaw amendment to reduce the speed limit in the selected neighbourhood before getting the project going.
