ELORA – The Elora Centre for the Arts made a delegation to council in Centre Wellington at last night’s Committee of the Whole meeting.
Hoping for more funding to aid in building repairs, Executive Director Lianne Carter shared statistics with staff that she said proved there is a need for township contributions to offset maintenence to an aging heritage property.
Carter told council there is currently a “lack of core funding,” going on to say the only source of funding at the time being is earned revenue sources.
She added the money the centre hopes for from council wouldn’t just help with activities relating to the arts.
Carter also mentioned it was great to hear council’s recognition of the arts centre’s integrity to the community.
In front of a full gallery of those close to the centre, Carter didn’t name a number as far as the potential dollars would go, stating she would leave that to council as they sort through the 2024 budget.
