GUELPH/ERAMOSA – Dog tag licensing will come at an increased rate in Guelph/Eramosa beginning next year.
The township approved an increase of $2 at a meeting this afternoon, and are introducing a $5 late fee as well January 1st, 2024.
According to a report presented originally in a September meeting, a spayed or neutered dog will now cost $32 to license, and a fertile dog will cost $37.
The township states the move comes in an effort to off-set a revenue deficit of $40,468.11 to support the canine control portion of the township’s animal control services agreement with the Guelph Humane Society.
Staff are also proposing that as of January 1st, 2025, a standard cost-of-living increase be applied to dog tag licensing fees to avoid large increases in fees.
Approximately $1,536 in additional revenue is projected in 2024.
