$6.4 million in federal funding has been announced for an affordable housing project in Guelph.
The announcement was made today by local officials and Ahmed Hussen, Minister of Housing and Diversity and Inclusion.
The building will be the conversion of a motel.
County of Wellington Warden, Kelly Linton, says the project will provide housing for a large number of residents.
Located at 721 Woolwich Street in Guelph, the project will be operated by Stepping Stone.
Gail Hoekstra, Executive Director of Stepping Stone, says from a capital perspective they are now in a good position to move forward.
The funding is from the Rapid Housing Initiative and funding will also come from the SEED program and the Ontario Priority Housing Initiative.
