All outdoor recreational amenities across the Province are now closed
In an effort to stop the spread of COVID-19 and keep people home, the Government of Ontario announced yesterday the extension of the Declaration of Emergency and associated emergency measures, including the closure of non-essential workplaces and restrictions on social gatherings. In addition, Ontario is issuing a new emergency order under the Emergency Management and Civil Protection Act to close all outdoor recreational amenities, such as sports fields and playgrounds, effective immediately. These actions are based on the advice of the Chief Medical Officer of Health.
To comply with this new provincial order, the Township has closed all outdoor recreational amenities including playgrounds, sports fields, basketball and tennis courts, off-leash dog parks, skateparks, picnic areas, park shelters, and other outdoor recreational amenities. Green spaces in parks and trails will remain open, but individuals must maintain the safe physical distance of at least two metres apart from others.
This is a rapidly evolving situation; discussions and decisions are ongoing. Any changes in operations will be communicated and posted to the Townships website at www.centrewellington.ca/emergencyplanning and on our social media platforms, www.facebook.com/CentreWellington and Twitter www.twitter.com/CentrWellington.
