CENTRE WELLINGTON – Following Provincial and public health advice and the ongoing threat of COVID-19, the Township has made the difficult decision to cancel all township-run summer programs up to September 8, 2020. This includes activities such as summer camps, swimming lessons, sports field rentals and senior programming.
“It is very disappointing that we cannot offer the programs and camps that we typically offer families in Centre Wellington every summer” said Mayor Kelly Linton. “But until we can safely open our facilities, we want families to have the option to make other plans for their children this summer, and protect the health and safety of our residents and staff”.
Recreational Programs
If you are registered for an aquatic or fitness program, you can choose to receive a refund or a credit to your account for future use. Staff will contact anyone registered to process their refund or credit.
Fitness and/or Aquatic Memberships
All memberships are extended automatically for the duration of the facility closure. For members on a monthly payment plan, payments will continue to be withdrawn on the regular payment date. Members wishing to stop payments, or members who paid for a full membership and would like a pro-rated refund, please contact staff to process the refund.
Sports fields and Facility rentals
If you have rented a sports field or reserved any other recreation facility before September 8, 2020, you can choose to receive a refund or a credit to your account for future use.
As restrictions from the Province and Public Health are lifted, the Township will look at implementing redesigned or modified programs and rentals where possible. At this time, requests for future booking dates are not being accepted until further notice.
It is important, during these times of physical distancing to stay connected. The Township has added a new virtual platform to Connect CW, a one-stop community hub linking residents to activities, workshops and virtual experiences related to recreation, leisure, fitness, well-being, education, culture, arts and more. Staff have recently added a seniors section that links to free seminars, and zoom exercise classes to ensure the community stays active and healthy at home this summer. #CW Cares was launched in May, and encourages residents to share their stories about caremongering. This movement describes the practice of offering help or care to those that need it most. And it isn’t just limited to delivering supplies or food; care mongering can mean running errands, or setting up online exercise classes, or cooking and doing chores for others.
