MEDIA RELEASE
CENTRE WELLINGTON – Township staff have been working toward the re-opening of many of our facilities following the Province’s latest Stage 3 announcement. As of today, Friday, July 17 park playgrounds will reopen.
“As we continue to proceed with the next phase of our reopening plans, staff have worked diligently to ensure we can safely proceed with reopening park playgrounds to families and children,” said Mayor Kelly Linton. “We know how important outdoor play is for children, especially during these warm summer months. We hope families can enjoy time on our playgrounds and we ask that you follow the rules and regulations in place so that we can keep these facilities open, and safe, for everyone.”
Please be aware that outdoor park amenities and playground equipment are not sanitized. When using outdoor amenities (i.e. basketball courts, skatepark, playgrounds) members of the public are asked to:
- Maintain a physical distance of at least two metres or six feet, except for members of the same household
- If physical distancing cannot be maintained, return another time
- Wash and/or sanitize hands often and after play
- Practice good cough etiquette
While some Township amenities can be reopened right away, in some specific cases, it may take weeks to reopen following provincial announcements. Staff are working to ensure all amenities are reopened safely.
This is a rapidly evolving situation; discussions and decisions are ongoing. Any changes in operations will be communicated and posted to the Townships website at www.centrewellington.ca/emergencyplanning and on our social media platforms, www.facebook.com/CentreWellington and Twitter www.twitter.com/CentrWellington.
