According to Guelph police, a man considered armed and dangerous has been arrested.
Guelph Police say , Nicholas Olner, 28, was arrested in Belleville and will be transported to Guelph for a bail hearing.
On October 7th, 2020, the Guelph Police Service investigated a robbery which occurred at a hotel in the south end of the City of Guelph. As a result of the robbery, a women’s personal belongings and a quantity of cash was stolen. A firearm was used in the commission of the offence.
Through investigation, the suspect in this robbery was identified as Nicholas Olner, and it was believed that he was residing at a residence in the City of Brantford. On October 17th, at 4pm, the Brantford Police Service attended to this residence, in an attempt to arrest him on behalf of the Guelph Police Service. In the interest of public safety, the local streets were closed and the area residents were advised to shelter in place. The Brantford Police Service Critical Incident Response Team (CIRT) contained the residence, while attempting to locate him.
At midnight, the Guelph Police Service CIRT attended to the City of Brantford in order to assist. On October 18th, at 2am, police entered the residence. Nicholas Olner was not located.
