An elderly Guelph female was shaken but not physically injured after confronting a burglar inside her home early Monday.
Around 5:30 a.m. the 85-year-old female was awakened by the sound of someone smashing a window at her home on Woodlawn Road East near Victoria Road North. When she left her bedroom a short time later she encountered a male coming out of the second-floor bathroom carrying a tire iron.
Police arrived on scene quickly and determined the unknown male had fled out the front door, which had its window broken out. The male, who was not located, was described as approximately six feet tall, wearing all black including a black hoodie and carrying a tire iron. No theft was reported.
The incident remains under investigation.
