FERGUS – The Fergus Scottish Festival celebrated with community partners Monday morning on the first phase of a project with the completion of some electrical infrastructure upgrades for the entire Centre Wellington Sportsplex grounds.
The project is being funded with the support of contributions by the Fergus Scottish Festival, Fergus Fall Fair, and Township of Centre Wellington also with the support of a Farm Credit Canada, as well as grants totaling $136,000.
Matthew Bennet-Monty, Vice President and Site Chair of the Scottish Festival says the project was incubated about 4 years ago.
Bennet-Monty says with the help from the Township of Centre Wellington, the Fergus Fall Fair, and Farm Credit Canada, the Scottish Festival was able to spearhead the project that included upgrades to electrical, water, and wifi systems.
He says it has been an excellent collaboration.
Organizers say this phase of the project will be completed by December 31st with the whole project deadline being Festival weekend, August 12 -14th, 2022.
