WELLINGTON COUNTY – Wellington-Halton Hills MP Michael Chong has announced he will not be running for the Conservative party leadership.
He made the announcement on his Twitter page saying his focus will remain foreign policy.
Chong is the party’s foreign affairs critic.
MP Pierre Poilievre, MP Leslyn Lewis, and former Quebec premier Jean Charest have put themselves forward in this leadership race.
Independent Ontario legislator Roman Baber of Toronto launched his candidacy earlier this week.
The party will be picking its next leader on September 10.
1/ Upon reflection, I’ve decided not to seek the Conservative leadership. Now is not the time.
For now, Canada’s foreign policy will remain my focus.
