Centre Wellington Council approved a contract yesterday to replace a well in Fergus.
At its Committee of the Whole meeting, council awarded the contract to Lotowater Technical Services Inc. to replace Well F5 .
Last year, the Township’s Water Supply Master Plan identified the need for additional water supply to accommodate growth up to 2041.
Mayor Kelly Linton says currently, the F5 well produces water with a high concentration of silt and sand particles so it cannot be pumped to its full capacity.
Manager of Engineering, Adam Gilmore, says test wells shows the required quantity and capacity required and also showed that the raw water was a high quality water source.
An additional well that requires upgrades, Well F2, still requires further studies before moving forward.
