WELLINGTON COUNTY – An OPP Constable in Wellington County is one of three recipients of the Laurie Hawkins Community Services Memorial Award.
Constable Cheri Rockefeller of Wellington County OPP joins, Kevin Martin of South Bruce OPP and Rod Leclair of Haldimand OPP as recipients.
OPP say the award is given to community services/media relations officers for exemplary work in their communities.
The award is named after OPP Cst. Laurie Hawkins and her family, who died of carbon monoxide poisoning in 2008.
In 2013, the “Hawkins Gignac Act” was named in the family’s honour in an effort to help prevent similar tragedies from happening again.
