FERGUS – Seen as one of the top Conservative Party leadership contenders, Pierre Poilievre drew a large crowd in Fergus on Thursday.
Poilievre stopped at the Centre Wellington Community Sportsplex for a meet and greet for the public as part of his campaign.
Poilievre will also be in St. Catharines later Thursday. He will then travel into northern Ontario, stopping in Sault Ste Marie, Sudbury, Timmins and North Bay over the weekend.
On February 5, Poilievre announced his intentions to run for the leadership, just three days after the Conservative caucus ousted Erin O’Toole as party leader.
Other candidates that are running for the Conservative Leadership include Scott Aitchison, Leona Alleslev, Roman Baber, Patrick Brown, Jean Charest, Marc Dalton, and Leslyn Lewis.
The Conservatives will name their new permanent leader at a convention on September 10.
