Centre wellington township….and local business improvement areas are launching several initiatives as shoppers and tourists return to the area.
Every weekend this summer, a shuttle bus will operate to move residents and visitors between downtown Elora and Fergus. That bus service begins this Saturday running from noon to 6 pm.
The bus will operate out of Grand River raceway, and depart every 20 minutes to several locations in Elora and Fergus
The township has also worked with the Elora BIA to build a schedule to close streets some weekends for a more pedestrian friendly expeirence. That will start in mid June.
The shuttle will operate out of the Grand River Raceway, located at 7445 Wellington County Rd 21, Elora. Every 30 minutes the shuttle will leave this location and transport passengers to the following stops:
- Downtown Elora
- Victoria Park, Elora
- Bissell Park, Elora
- Wellington County Museum, Aboyne
- Downtown Fergus (*Only on Saturdays*)

Downtown Street Closures
Staff have been working with the Elora BIA to identify four weekends that will close downtown Elora streets to encourage a pedestrian friendly downtown hub. The weekends identified are:
- Saturday, June 18th and Sunday, June 19th
- Friday, July 1st to Sunday, July 3rd
- Saturday, July 30th to Monday, August 1st
- Saturday, September 3rd to Monday, September 5th
The weekend closures will affect the following streets:
- West Mill Street (Metcalfe Street to Price Street)
- Metcalfe Street (from West Mill Street to Geddes Street)
In Fergus, a portion of Provost Lane is officially closed for the summer season, allowing patrons to enjoy an outdoor dining experience.
