WELLINGTON NORTH – A $350,000 allocation is being recommended by the Recreation, Parks and Leisure Committee of Wellington North for the replacement of the roof at the Arthur and Area Community Centre.
The recommendation will be discussed at the committee meeting later today (Tuesday).
There are some areas on the roof that require slope modification so water can drain properly, according to a letter issued by the township engineer in 2019. Some drains on the roof are partially clogged from debris.
Some areas on the roof are blistered and the roofing membrane has bubbled. The letter says it is possible to extend the lifespan of the roof if repairs are made. In spite of this, it is recommended that the roof be replaced due to the safety risks associated with the community centre.
The Township of Wellington North Recreation, Parks and Leisure Committee will meet today at 4pm.
