With the area in the midst of a very dry stretch, the president of the Wellington Federation of Agriculture, says every producer is looking to the sky.
Janet Harrop of Fergus says some crops are already beginning to show the strain. Corn and soybeans are in a critical stage of their growth, she says, where the plants need to maximize moisture.
In June, our area received about half the normal amount of rainfall for the month. That trend is continuing into July according to the University of Waterloo weather station.
