FERGUS – The Fergus Legion Branch 275 held a ceremony at the Fergus Cenotaph this morning in memory of Queen Elizabeth II.
The ceremony included the placing of a wreath by MPP Ted Arnott in memory of the Queen, two minutes of silence, and the singing of “God Save the King”.
The Fergus Legion’s president, Brian Bielby, grew up in England and recalls how the Queen would drive past his school and all the students would wave at her.
Bielby says to be apart of this day to remember the Queen is very meaningful.
Cynthia, a Fergus resident, attended the ceremony, she says she attended because she feels close connection to the Queen and the Royal Family.
Cynthia says she will always remember one of the Queens first speeches.
The Fergus Legion has a book of condolences available at the legion for everyone who would like to sign.
People can sign the book when the Fergus Legion is open .
