NEWS RELEASE WELLINGTON COUNTY OPP
(MAPLETON, ON) – The theft of a tractor was thwarted thanks to the help of some Good Samaritans, and a young person is now facing several charges.
On September 25, 2022, the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police responded to the report of a theft in progress. It was reported that a tractor was being stolen from an address on Sideroad 21, Mapleton Township. The complainants were able to prevent the person from leaving the scene until officers arrived.
As a result of the investigation, a 16-year-old of Arthur has been charged with the following:
· Theft Under $5000 CC 334(b)
· Person Under 19 Years Having Liquor LLCA 34(1)
· Person Under 19 Years – Possess Cannabis CCA 2017 10(1)
The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice – Guelph, at a later date.
