CENTRE WELLINGTON – A delegation at Monday’s committee of the whole meeting asked council to opt-in to legal cannabis in Centre Wellington.
Two delegates including John Mifsud a cannabis advocate and Diane Ballantyne Ward 6 Wellington County Councillor suggested that Centre Wellington council commission a staff report regarding cannabis legislation in Centre Wellington.
“Our ultimate goal is for Centre Wellington Council to bring cannabis retail legislation to a vote,” they said.
Diane Ballantyne say polls show residents in Centre Wellington want retail cannabis.
John Mifsud says they believe opting into private retail cannabis will provide a boost to the local economy.
No decision was made by council today, the delegation was for informational purposes.
