WELLINGTON COUNTY – A winter storm bringing a mix of snow, ice pellets and freezing has arrived in Centre Wellington and Wellington County.
A Freezing Rain Warning is in effect for Southern Wellington County, Erin and Guelph, and a Winter Storm Warning is in effect for Arthur, Mount Forest and Northern Wellington County.
Environment Canada says light snow will become heavy at times and mix with ice pellets late Wednesday afternoon. Snow and ice pellets will mix with or change over to freezing rain Wednesday evening. Freezing rain will continue into the overnight before tapering off early Thursday morning to patchy freezing drizzle. Gusty northeasterly winds will diminish early Thursday morning.
Cancellations and Closures in Centre Wellington and Wellington County:
- The Township of Centre Wellington has postponed the Public Meeting Under the Planning Act – Committee of the Whole Meeting scheduled for Wednesday evening. The township says the applications will be presented at a later date.
- The Upper Grand District School Board has cancelled all community use of schools due to the inclement weather.
- West Perth OPP have cancelled the Fraud Alert Information Session scheduled for tonight (Feb 22nd), the OPP say the will advise of a new date as soon as possible.
- CMHA Waterloo Wellington’s Cambridge, Fergus, Mount Forest, Blue Springs sites are closed today (February 23rd) due to inclement weather. Their 80 Waterloo, Silvercreek and King St. sites remain open. They will shift most appointments to virtual if possible, if you have an appointment scheduled your worker will connect with you.
- 2nd Chance Employment Counselling is closed today, and staff are working remotely.
