Centre Wellington council approved a recommendation for a Gartshore Street farmhouse in Fergus to serve a new purpose.
The building will be used as accommodation for healthcare professionals.
Centre Wellington Chief Administrative Officer, Dan Wilson, says recently, a good portion of recruitment funds for healthcare professionals has had to be used to house these individuals, but the approval means the funds can be used for other aspects of recruitment initiatives.
Wilson says the other initiatives could cover a wide variety of needs.
He also acknowledged the community who he says, have stepped up immensely to help get the facility ready to house the workers.
