NEWS RELEASE DUFFERIN COUNTY OPP
(DUFFERIN COUNTY, ON) – Members of the Dufferin Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have laid multiple charges as a result of a traffic stop in the Town of Orangeville.
On April 26, 2023, members of the Dufferin Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU), stopped a driver for a highway traffic act related offence in Orangeville. The officers were led into a criminal investigation which resulted in charging the driver with multiple offences.
A 32-year-old, from Arthur, has been charged with:
· Possession of property obtained by crime – Under $5000 – Criminal Code
· Possession of Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – Methamphetamine – Controlled Drugs and Substance Act
· Drive vehicle of boat with cannabis readily available – The Cannabis Act
· Fail to comply with probation order – Criminal Code
· Possession of forged document with intent – Criminal Code
· Operation while prohibited under the Criminal Code – Criminal Code
· Driving while under suspension – Highway Traffic Act
· Use plate not authorized – Highway Traffic Act
As a result of the investigation, the following was seized:
· Methamphetamine
· Over $1000 in Canadian Currency
· Cellphone
· Marihuana
· Forged Ontario Drivers Licence
· Unauthorized vehicle plates
The accused was transported to the Dufferin Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police and held pending a bail hearing.
