A planned development for an eight-unit, one-and-a-half storey townhouse in Mount Forest was received fairly well by council at a Wellington North meeting Monday afternoon.
The development would require a rezoning of the 0.54 acres of land, and the current single-detached dwelling and detached garage would be demolished. Currently there are five homes next to the proposed development.
The plot is across from Family Park between Wellington Street East and Church Street.
The proposal includes a private amenity area with picnic tables and gazebos, lined by concrete sidewalks. A separate area would see a 12-space parking lot in a currently vacant green space.
The developer plans to provide affordable housing for first-time buyers and said they will protect neighbouring greenery such as shrubs and trees as much as possible.
A decision will be made regarding the development at a later date.
