The Ontario Healthcare Coalition announced the results of their public opinion vote regarding provincial healthcare privatization yesterday. Voters overwhelmingly opposed the privatization of public healthcare services.
98% of voters said no to the option of for-profit clinics and hospitals. Barb Hogg, Co-Chair of the Guelph District Health Coalition, says locally, the numbers were equally unanimous.
She says that equates to 98.2% of voters voting against for-profit privatization within Wellington County.
Hogg also stated the continuation of the campaign will be centred around educating as the privatization bill passed rather rapidly.
In a press release, the coalition said “if they try to ignore this, we will ratchet it up. We will not stop until they stop.”
