If you ever need to talk, a new bench officially unveiled at the Centre Wellington Community Sportsplex Thursday will always be there.
The Buddy Bench as it will be known is a part of #GetinTouchforHutch, in honour of Steven Hutchison, who tragically took his own life in 2013.
Centre Wellington Minor Lacrosse staff reiterated this is a bigger picture than just lacrosse.
President Nathan Joyes says COVID showed while developing physical wellbeing is important, being healthy mentally is critical too.
He says ending the stigma that it’s not okay to talk about mental health is very crucial.
Joyes added finding a prominent location within the community for the bench was a focus.
More than 40 benches have been placed in schools in the Upper Grand District School Board and two within the Arthur community to date.
