ELORA – A local building that has been in place since the 1800’s recently received a grant towards restoration.
The building has been in Elora since 1848 to be exact, located at 43 West Mill Street.
The applicant had applied for a $10,000 grant towards further restoration of the building that has been modified already since its inception.
The building, known as the Elora Hotel, originally, is now planned to offer residential space, and obtain the iconic Gorge Cinema.
Coun. Barb Evoy was on board with council’s decision to approve the funding.
Centre Wellington staff were happy to dole out the dollars to a building Mayor Shawn Watters has long been familiar with.
Watters stated the building has definite heritage value.
Council approved a CIP Program in 2015 with two levels, the second of which involved the $10,000 grant, and an appearance before council.
