WELLINGTON COUNTY – A rural transportation program born at the outset of the pandemic has been extended until 2025.
The G.O.S.T or “ghost” service is a bus line that provides transportation from areas in Wellington North like Arthur and Mount Forest bound to Guelph and Owen Sound.
The program, according to Dale Small, township Manager of Community and Economic Development, doesn’t have traceable numbers collected yet like county rideshare Ride Well.
Councillor Sherry Burke told council she believes these numbers may have been hit by the pandemic but was one of many pleased by the extension.
Mayor Andy Lennox pointed out options like ghost and county service Ride Well can use all the exposure they can get.
Small added the service is incredibly valuable to the community, and said he too was pleased to see the provincially funded service granted extra years.
