ERIN – Saturday night hockey will be coming back to Erin in just a few short months.
The team bringing semi pro puck back to the town will be known as the Erin Outlaws.
Co-President of the organization, Ann Shanahan, says the new Ontario Elite Hockey League expansion squad is excited to bring the sport back to what she called a “strong hockey community.”
She added the Outlaws’ berth in the league came together rather quickly.
Shanahan says the atmosphere being engaging at the games Saturday nights is a priority.
The ice will be ready September 11, Shanahan says.
While a tryout process is still in the works, Shanahan adds the team has been approached by over 20 interested players already through social media.
She hopes to see fans travelling to support their players in rival territories like Minto, Shelbourne and Creemore.
The action gets going on October 14.
