WELLINGTON COUNTY – Per a news release from OPP West Region, thousands of charges were laid over the long weekend, including over 150 in Wellington County.
The release stated this year’s campaign focused on the “Big Four” bad driving behaviours: aggressive driving, failure to wear a seatbelt, distracted driving, and impaired driving.
There were five impaired driving charges in Wellington County, three distracted driving charges and 26 seatbelt charges.
118 were caught going too quickly, as speeding charges dominated this year’s traffic campaign results locally.
Officers from OPP West Region’s 13 detachments laid a total of 2426 charges, stemming from 2577 traffic stops made from September 1st until the conclusion of the campaign on September 4th, 2023.
