WELLINGTON COUNTY – Costs to build new county ambulance stations and garages are rising according to a presentation that will be discussed at a special council meeting Thursday.
Within the county’s ten-year plan are budget projections that show a spike in the cost to build five new ambulance stations across the county including one in Mount Forest.
The second biggest budget discrepancy would be to build the Drayton ambulance station at over $7.7 million.
The biggest difference to build a new ambulance station would be Mount Forest in 2032, at over $8 million.
Altogether, the cost estimate tops $45 million for the ambulance stations, a near $34 million difference from last year’s budget.

There is a $40 million-plus difference to build four new garages throughout the ten-year plan, including one in Harriston.
It would cost over $45 million for the ambulance stations and more than $74 million for the county garages.

The priciest of the garages would be in Aberfoyle, where it would cost approximately $21 million, over a $13 million difference from last year’s budget.
