WELLINGTON COUNTY – A recent report from the province’s watch dog shows the number of complaints filed about public sector agencies in Wellington County are down in the last fiscal year.
According to the Ontario Ombudsman’s annual report released on Thursday, Wellington County municipalities received 26 complaints between April 1, 2022 and March 31, 2023.
A total of 29 were given to Wellington County townships in the previous fiscal year.
11 complaints were filed this fiscal year against the upper-tier Wellington County government.
This also included four cases in the Town of Erin, three in Puslinch and Minto, two each in Wellington North and Guelph/Eramosa and one case in Centre Wellington.
There were no cases filed in Mapleton during that fiscal year.
The report indicates that most complaints are resolved within two weeks without a formal investigation, and there is no disclosure of the nature of the complaints.
