WELLINGTON COUNTY – Wellington County’s planning committee was adamant at a meeting Thursday that lands to be added to the greenbelt in Erin be removed as a part of the Bill 136 process.
A report says staff are of the opinion that the Greenbelt Plan is doing its job reasonably well and that the expansion area is not under threat of urban development warranting additional protection.
County Senior Policy Planner Jameson Pickard says the county’s position on the matter hasn’t changed.
Councillor Michael Dehn commented that the government used no rhyme nor reason to do what they did.
He says at this point it’s not negative to the residents of Erin unless they want to sever property.
Pickard added the county concurs with not only it’s own previous statements, but comments from the province as well.
Staff will now be directed to file the report in response to a posting by the provincial Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing.
The clerk will forward the report to member municipalities within the County.
