WELLINGTON COUNTY – The County of Wellington is forecasting $24.7 million in road and bridge projects for next year.
According to a report going before Tuesday’s roads committee, the county is proposing nine projects for 2024 including four bridge rehabilitations or replacements, two new round abouts, two traffic signals, and about 5km in road preservations, and 16km in road renewal.
The proposed 2024 projects include:
Centre Wellington Township
- Wellington Road 18, Fergus to Dufferin: with a proposed budget of $5 million. The work will see the rehabilitation of approximately 2km of roadway and the following intersection improvements. Round-a-bout at Wellington Road 18 and 26, Round-a-bout at Wellington Road 18 and 2nd Line. Signalization of Wellington Road 18 and Wellington Road 29.
Mapleton Township
- Wellington Road 11 Flax Bridge Rehabilitation: with a proposed budget of $500,000. The rehabilitation would look to extend the lifecycle of the Flax Bridge, with replacement anticipated at the end of the ten-year budge forecast.
- Wellington Road 11, 16th Line to Wellington Road 109: with a proposed budget of $1.2 million. Work would include road recycling and paving of 1 lift of new asphalt.
- Wellington Road 12 Bridge B012100 Replacement: with a proposed budget of $970,000. The project would see the removal and replacement of the existing structure.
Puslinch Township
- Wellington Road 34 Irish Creek Bridge Rehabilitation: with a proposed budget of $800,000. Work will include the rehabilitation of the existing structure. Scheduling for commencement will be determined through coordination with the MTO to limit impacts of the required road closure.
Wellington North Township
- Wellington Road 109 CR Bridge 6 B109132 Replacement: with a proposed budget of $5.1 million. The work would see a design and tendering of the first of four bridge structures near Arthur on Wellington Road 109. Work to commence late 2024 early 2025.
Minto Township
- Wellington Road 109, Teviotdale to Harriston (10km): with a proposed budget of $5 million. The project would see the recycling of the existing road, paving with one lift of new asphalt with widened paved shoulders.
Guelph/Eramosa Township
- Wellington Road 124, Guelph to Whitelaw: with a proposed budget of $4.1 million. The first phase of the project to reconstruct Wellington Road 124 from Guelph to Guelph Eramosa Township Road 1. Work will see the addition of a turning lane through a section of road close Guelph, and the renewal of the traffic signals at White law road.
The proposed 2024 work also includes pavement preservation at various locations in the County. The work would cost $2 million, including a combination of pavement overlay, shoulder rehabilitation and crack sealing projects.
The report will be discussed at tomorrows roads committee meeting at 10am.
