ROCKWOOD – The annual Festive RIDE program is officially underway.
Officers from the Wellington County OPP and the Guelph Police Service conducted a RIDE program in Rockwood Thursday morning to formally launch the initiative which raises awareness of the dangers of impaired driving.
Wellington OPP Staff Sgt. Dean Korn says they will once again be patrolling roadways during the holiday season to make sure everyone is safe.
So far this year, there have been four impaired driving fatalities in Wellington County and over 120 impaired driving charges laid.
Korn says this season the message remains the same, don’t drive while impaired.
Korn says if you do see an impaired driver, call 9-1-1.
The Festive RIDE campaign, runs November 16th to January 1st.
