GUELPH/ERAMOSA – A proposed 5.51 percent tax increase in Guelph/Eramosa didn’t sit well with the mayor and certain members of council at a special meeting of council yesterday.
Mayor Chris White voiced concern with the increase, stating he’d like to see it below five per cent.
White said reserves are a matter of thinking about the future.
Councillor Corey Woods also suggested keeping the rate below five per cent, but councillor Bruce Dickieson thought otherwise.
Factors influencing the proposed tax rate include a 3.8 per cent cost of living adjustment and a 1.26 per cent increase in growth-related assessment.
The proposed 2024 budget will return to council on December 11th.
