CENTRE WELLINGTON – Centre Wellington is set to begin budget deliberations this week.
The 2024 draft budget is currently proposing a 8.54 per cent tax increase leading to an extra $114 on an average assessed home at just over $381,000.
In 2023, the township saw a 3.53 per cent jump, while the hike in 2022 was 2.16 per cent.
Mayor Shawn Watters says the growth of the community effects the preparation of the budget.
Watters says during deliberations it will be the goal for council to try and lower the 2024 tax increase.
Budget deliberations are set for this Thursday and Friday if needed.
The 2024 budget is proposed to be approved on December 18th.
