ELORA – Two streets in Downtown Elora have reopened.
In a post to social media on Friday evening, the Township of Centre Wellington announced that East Mill Street and Metcalfe Street have officially reopened to traffic.
East Mill Street had been closed for the last 8 months for the first phase of reconstruction.
Meanwhile, Metcalfe Street was closed in mid-November for an emergency sewer repair.
After reopening briefly, the road was closed again, due to what the Township said was disintegrating pipes found during the initial emergency repair of the collapsed sewer.
A complete repair was needed, resulting in Metcalfe Street from James Street to East Mill Street remaining closed for several weeks.
While Metcalfe is now opened, the Township noted that paving of the street will take place early next week, and a closure will be required.
The township thanked the downtown businesses and residents for their patience.
