There is lots of growth planned on either side of the road at the north and south ends of Fergus, according to managing director of infrastructure services in the township, Colin Baker.
Baker told The Grand at 101 the Ministry of Transportation is looking for feedback. He says among other ideas, roundabouts have been pushed for by members of the community, to be located at Highway 6 and Second Line, as well as the highway’s intersection with Wellington Road 22.
Baker added he hopes to have a plan in place to accommodate growth and service new developments as they come.
He says other discussed strategies include several traffic calming measures.
Baker went on to say what’s to come is trying to find more clarity surrounding the road soon to see plenty of growth on its outskirts.
Jobs and employment add to the intensification Baker already sees being significant.
He says growth ahead includes a population jump from 34,000 residents, up to 58,000 by 2051.
