WELLINGTON COUNTY – A new Wellington County rural transportation survey is off to a flying start in terms of responses.
The survey has been out for just seven days. Economic Development Officer at the County of Wellington James Vaclavek notes the response rate is great to see, but they hope to welcome even more input.
Certain pockets may need more transportation help, according to Vaclavek .
The several hundred responses received, Vaclavek says, will help gauge people’s interest in Ride Well, and rural transportation overall.
Vaclavek went on to say different levels of service exist right now, from the GOST service funded by the City of Owen Sound, to Ride Well and taxi services.
He added the county hopes to get a sense of what would benefit the community, when the Ride Well pilot ends in 2025.
The anonymous survey is complete with demographic data, as well as how to improve transportation services locally.
In all, Vaclavek says, the goal is to develop plans to best serve the community down the road.
