WELLINGTON COUNTY – With an approaching storm, Wellington County OPP are out with some winter driving reminders.
Constable Joshua Cunningham says this time of year its important for motorists to respond to adverse and rapidly-changing road conditions by reducing speed and leaving extra space to adjust to reduced braking ability on icy, snowy roads.
Cunningham says proper pre-trip planning and vehicle inspections will make for a much safer trip.
He says its important to have four winter tires on your vehicle, install good wiper blades and keep an ample supply of windshield washer fluid in your vehicle.
If you do fine yourself in the ditch, Cunningham says it is a good idea to have a kit in your car.
He also says if you are involved in a collision, and there are injuries call 911.
Cunningham reminds motorists to give yourself extra time to reach your destination or consider postponing or cancelling your trip if the weather does not improve.
