WELLINGTON COUNTY – A hired consultant in the County of Wellington has presented staff with a report on cycling route options within the county.
As a part of their research, Ontario By Bike have identified seven trails as signature cycling routes that will eventually go to market as part of the cycling tours and product offerings in Wellington County.
A report says the research was conducted through consultations with stakeholders and local cyclists with the goal of gathering information to develop the collection of these routes.
Among the suggested routes is one in Fergus that loops in and out of Erin, spanning 75 kilometres.
The Elora-Fergus Grand River loop is classified as a beginner loop. The 35-kilometre loop is also included in the report.
Also presented are routes in parts of Rockwood, Minto, and Guelph.
The report is step one for staff on a long road to identifying the future of Wellington County trails.
