WELLINGTON COUNTY – “A true picture of community support.”
Year twelve for Trees for Tots was a success, as the volunteers for the Children’s Foundation of Guelph and Wellington rallied together to support the annual community fundraiser.
According to a news release, through snow, slush, and cold temperatures faced this year, close to 250 volunteers came together to collect trees and in total, collected over 3,600 trees and over $93,000.
Funds raised from Trees for Tots, say organizers, will help to enhance the well-being of children and youth by connecting them to experiences and supports that contribute to their sense of belonging and help them to reach their full potential.
“We are proud to continue to work with community partners like The Arboretum, Ignatius Jesuit Centre, and Trout Unlimited Canada to ensure that the trees are diverted away from landfills and used in an environmentally smart way,” says Amanda Kavchak, Director of Marketing & Community Engagement at the Children’s Foundation.
“With the proceeds going towards providing local children and youth with things like food security, access to recreation, mental health support, educational support, and so much more, it’s a real win-win,” she added.
Organizers thanked sponsors and volunteers alike for helping make this another successful year of Trees for Tots.
