CENTRE WELLINGTON – A proposed EarlyON Child and Family Centre in Centre Wellington could be on the way, complete with a 2,000-plus square foot floor plan.
The proposed new location is at Skyline Community Hub, 900 Tower Street in Fergus. The recommendation suggests this move be approved and included in the county’s 2024 budget and ten year plan.
A report to go before Wellington County council tomorrow says there is currently no EarlyON Centre in Centre Wellington, although the municipality has a population of 2,400 children from birth through age 6, and overall population is projected to grow by 68.2 per cent by 204.
The recommendation is for the capital project funding of up to $160,000 from the County Property Reserve be provided to the Community Resource Centre of North and Centre Wellington to make the project possible.
In Centre Wellington, EarlyON programs and services are provided by the Community Resource Centre of North and Centre Wellington (CRC) at the Belwood Lion’s Hall, Fergus Sportsplex, and Elora Community Centre.
There are currently seven EarlyON Child and Family Centre sites that are located in Erin, Guelph/Eramosa, Mapleton, Minto, Wellington North, and two in Guelph.
The meeting will kick off at 10 a.m. tomorrow.
