FERGUS – Located just off Beatty Line at the Trailside Medical Centre, a new food hub is offering those experiencing food insecurity more accessibility.
The hub is a partnership between the Upper Grand Family Health Team and the Centre Wellington Food Bank.
Hilary Blackett, Executive Director of the Upper Grand Family Health Team, says these types of partnerships are critical.
Executive Director of the Food Bank Curt McQueen says this bond is a byproduct of people with a mindset to aid those in need.
Blackett says the hub is helping to create a social-physical health connection.
She added the tag-team effort has expanded its usage.
Blackett says the hub helps the portion of the community that are food insecure and can’t always access the food bank.
McQueen went on to say more of these hubs could be coming local soon, something Blackett encouraged.
