CENTRE WELLINGTON – At a meeting in Centre Wellington today, council will look over the 2024 community impact grant allocations, as recommended by the Healthy Communities Advisory Committee.
Requests totaled $288,186 this year, and the healthy communities committee has provided their input on the matter in the form of a report that will go before council this evening.
As a part of the recommendations, Ian MacRae and the committee suggest no funding for the Centre Wellington Minor Lacrosse Association.
The rationale is the initiative would need to focus on more than just minor lacrosse. Meanwhile, the CW Black committee is suggested to receive funding for one of two initiatives proposed, to help with building capacity.
Among the top recommended groups to receive funding in the amount of $5,000 are the Elora Centre for the Arts and the Elora-Fergus Arts council.
Big Brothers Big Sisters of Centre Wellington and the Centre Wellington Food Bank are both annual specific stream grants, and are each recommended their requested $5,300.
Staff will continue to review policy and make recommendations to council prior to the 2025 Community Impact Grant’s release.
Open session in Centre Wellington begins at 6 p.m. this evening.
